There are a number of possible reasons why an alarm could be beeping. Firstly, is it a regular single beep or is it a full alarm sound?

If it is a regular single beep (approximately once every minute), then the battery may be running low – see the 'How to change the battery in your alarm' section.

If the alarms are sounding, there may be a fire present. You should evacuate the property and be absolutely sure there is no fire before following the steps below. If in doubt, always assume there is a real fire present and take the necessary action.
Step 1
If you are sure the alarms have been triggered accidentally and there is no fire present, find the alarm that has triggered the system – look for the one with a rapidly flashing red light on the front of it.

Step 2
On the front of the alarm there will also be a button. On most models, this is a combined 'Test & Hush' button that will test the alarm but can also be used to 'Hush' or silence any false alarms. On some models, there is a separate Hush button. Briefly press and release this button.

Step 3
This will put the alarm into 'Hush' mode and should silence the alarm if it is alarming due to low level dust/insect build-up in the smoke sensor inside the alarm (if it doesn't silence the alarm, the dust build-up may be more deep seated).
To remove any dust/insects inside the alarm, clean by running a narrow nozzle of a vacuum cleaner around the smoke entry slots around the alarm.

If the alarm is still sounding, the alarm may need to be returned to us so that the contamination can be removed using specialist equipment - please contact us using the Help Form, explaining your situation, and we will contact you to discuss the procedure.
If you wished to temporarily remove the alarm in the meantime, please following the 'Removing Your Alarm' instructions in the 'How to change the battery in your alarm' section.
Note: removing the alarm will silence it and any other alarms that are on the same system will continue to operate, but please be aware that removing the alarm reduces the level of coverage/protection in your property and the problem with the alarm should be resolved and the alarm re-fitted as soon as possible.
