An exciting new opportunity to join a market leading fire and CO detection company involved at the front end of technology. The successful applicant will be trained to play an active part in the provision of first line technical support to internal and external customers.

 Vacancy description

The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out the following responsibilities:

  • Supporting customers and staff with technical support on electrical devices
  • Diagnosing faults and testing electrical devices
  • Wiring electrical devices together in different configurations
  • Demonstrating technical knowledge of the product when speaking with customers including electrical engineers
  • Advising customers including electrical engineers and architects on correct use of products within specification
  • Developing an in-depth knowledge of AICO’s product range
  • Developing a range of core electrical engineering knowledge and skills
  • Developing ICT skills to support your understanding of IoT technologies
  • Develop an understanding of legislative frameworks that impact on the markets that AICO serve
  • Supporting preparation of technical product specifications
  • Work with colleagues across all departments in providing first class service to all stakeholders

 Personal qualities

The successful applicant will be:

  • Self-motivated with a desire to succeed
  • Interested in technology and engineering processes
  • Able to prioritise and work to deadlines and other time pressures
  • Organised and methodical with high levels of attention to detail
  • A good communicator, able to digest and relay information verbally and in writing

Desired qualifications

  • The successful applicant will have preferably achieved (be predicted) at least a grade C/4 in GCSE or equivalent maths and English
  • Any IT qualifications or general IT competence e.g the use of Microsoft (or other software) packages

Future prospects

It is hoped that the successful applicant will continue to work on a permanent basis with AICO following completion of the apprenticeship (this will be dependent upon performance throughout the duration of the apprenticeship programme).

If it transpires that continued employment with AICO is not the preferred option, the training, experience and qualifications gained throughout the apprenticeship will stand the apprentice in very good stead to gain future employment.
