RadioLINK Connect – The Next Generation of Wireless Alarm Interconnection
RadioLINK Connect is Aico’s next-generation Radio Frequency (RF) protocol, building on the proven foundations of RadioLINK+ and SmartLINK technology. It enables compatible alarms and devices within a property to communicate wirelessly, whist also allowing for simpler installation, commissioning, system configuration and ongoing system management through the SmartLINK App’s new functionality.
The enhanced protocol is designed to provide reliable communication between devices while supporting the next generation of Aico’s connected home life safety solutions, making systems easier to install, manage and expand.
Easier Alarm Interconnection and Commissioning
All alarms featuring RadioLINK technologies, including RadioLINK, RadioLINK+ and RadioLINK Connect, can be interconnected wirelessly using Aico’s secure House Coding process. During House Coding, each alarm learns the unique serial numbers of every other alarm within the system, creating a secure wireless network.
With RadioLINK Connect, this process is simpler than ever. Rather than manually placing every alarm into House Code mode, installers can commission and manage systems directly through the SmartLINK Installer App.
With RadioLINK Connect, installers can install, commission and manage compatible systems directly through the SmartLINK Installer App.
Using the app, installers can:
- House code systems quickly
- Add or remove devices without factory resetting the network
- Perform sounding and silent alarm tests
- Manage systems more efficiently throughout their lifecycle
This significantly reduces installation time while making future maintenance much simpler.
How does RadioLINK Connect work?
RadioLINK Connect uses a wireless mesh network, allowing every alarm to communicate with the others through multiple signal paths. This provides a resilient communication network, ensuring alarm signals continue to reach every device even if one communication path becomes unavailable.
Like RadioLINK+, RadioLINK Connect provides:
- Up to 100m RF range in clear line of sight
- Approximately 30m range in a typical property
Operating on its own dedicated radio frequency, RadioLINK Connect is not affected by Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or mobile phone signals.
Expanding Existing Systems
RadioLINK Connect makes adding new alarms and accessories easier than ever.
RadioLINK
Adding a new device requires every alarm in the system to be manually placed into House Code mode.
RadioLINK+
Only one existing alarm and the new device need to enter Remote House Coding mode.
RadioLINK Connect
Using the SmartLINK Installer App, installers simply select the existing system and scan the QR code on the new device, no House Code button presses required. This streamlined process makes future upgrades faster and reduces disruption for residents.
Simple Visual Status Indicators
During House Coding, coloured LEDs clearly indicate each stage of the commissioning process.
- Pink – Devices are learning and connecting with one another.
- Green – House Coding is complete and all devices have been successfully recognised.
As with previous RadioLINK technologies, systems remain open for 30 minutes after House Coding. If installing multiple systems in nearby properties, installers can seal the network immediately to prevent unintended connections.
RadioLINK Connect Bluetooth Accessories
To enable commissioning through the SmartLINK Installer App, every RadioLINK Connect system requires at least one compatible Bluetooth-enabled accessory.
Compatible accessories include:
- Ei450 Alarm Controller
- Ei428 Relay Module
- Ei414 Fire/CO Alarm Interface
The latest RadioLINK Connect-compatible Ei414 offers expanded configuration through the SmartLINK Installer App. This enables installers to configure each relay independently, assign outputs for Fire, CO or Service events and set relay delay timers of up to three minutes. This additional flexibility helps minimise unnecessary alarm escalations while allowing systems to be tailored to individual installation requirements.
RadioLINK Connect Backwards Compatibility
RadioLINK Connect has been designed to work alongside existing RadioLINK and RadioLINK+ products, allowing systems to be expanded without replacing every device.
This enables installers to upgrade existing installations gradually while protecting previous investments.
Please note: Advanced RadioLINK Connect features are only available when all compatible RadioLINK Connect devices are used within the system.
