As part of our ‘Aico in the Community’ initiative, we show continued support to many charities.
As well as our ‘Charity of the Year’ and numerous office fundraising events, each member of staff is asked every year to nominate a charity of their choice, either local or national, to receive a donation before Christmas. Last year’s donations amounted to over £60,000.
Our Charity of the Year 2018 was the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC).
The EIC work across the UK supporting those in need who work or have worked in the electrical industry. They provide practical support and financial relief in many areas including poverty, homelessness and mental health support. The charity genuinely provides well-being solutions that transform lives.
The EIC is a charity working within an industry in which we operate, it is close to our hearts and we continue to give our ongoing support to the EIC.
Our Charity of the Year 2019 is Macmillan Cancer Support. Aico are rising to the challenge and have multiple fundraising activities and sporting events organised with Macmillan throughout the year, encouraging staff participation. Organised events include the Whitchurch 10k Run, a Charity Race Night, the Jurassic Coast twenty-six mile Mighty Hike, the Coracle World Championships, the Ludlow Cycle Festival and the Oswestry 10k Run.
Almost half of our workforce have bravely signed up to our various sporting events, a huge training effort is being made by all taking part, including group hiking sessions, a running club and cycle training.
We wish all our staff the very best of luck with their challenges.
