Charity of the Year 2022

Little Stars Baby Bank was named Aico’s Charity of the Year 2022. Their mission is to help parents in need of essential baby items through donations from the community, helping to give children the best possible start in life.
After working alongside Little Stars Baby Bank, and seeing first-hand how much this service was needed within the county, we have committed support through fundraising, volunteering and offering space within our headquarters for Little Stars Baby Bank to store its donations.
This support will enable the charity to grow, expanding from baby items to the planned provision of a school uniform bank for primary school children in Shropshire.

Charity of the Year 2021

Throughout 2021, Aico’s CSR programme, ‘Aico in the Community’, will focus on helping young people to tackle prevalent issues such as deprivation, education and mental health. We will support several local organisations, charities and schools through donations and volunteering.

Charity of the Year 2020

Our colleagues supported a number of charities in 2020 across the Shropshire area, through volunteering opportunities and fundraising activities. Our Charity of the Year in 2020 was ‘Everything Shropshire’, supporting and working with the Former High Sheriff of Shropshire, Dean Harris, focusing on areas including addiction, domestic abuse, poverty and child deprivation.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Charity of the Year 2019

Macmillan Cancer Support was our Charity of the Year 2019. Over 50% of colleagues successfully completed multiple fundraising challenges and sporting events last year, including a 26 mile hike, 10k runs, cycling challenges and a charity race night, raising funds for a charity very close to many hearts.

Charity of the Year 2018

Our Charity of the Year 2018 was the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC). The EIC work across the UK supporting those in need who work or have worked in the electrical industry.

They provide practical support and financial relief in many areas including poverty, homelessness and mental health support. The charity provides well-being solutions that transforms lives.

As part of our ongoing commitment and support to the EIC, we have collaborated with the EIC to help educate and increase understanding of mental health awareness with virtual, online training. Together with the EIC, we have facilitated the delivery of free of charge, online mental health awareness sessions delivered by a qualified EIC trainer, available nationwide to all those in the electrical industry.

The Movement Centre

We have a longstanding relationship with The Movement Centre, and have shown continued support through fundraising activities and donations. The charity works with children who have additional needs, which affects their movement control offering targeted training to give children more independence.

We have taken part in several fundraising challenges such as the Aico Abseil, where our colleagues were joined by businesses from across Shropshire to the scale the side of our 60-foot headquarters.

Find out why corporate support is so valuable to The Movement Centre in this short video.

Little Stars Baby Bank

Little Stars Baby Bank

Through our Charity initiative, we are supporting Little Stars Baby Bank, a new charity, based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire; their mission is to help parents in need of essential baby items through generous donations from the community, helping to give children the best possible start in life. Since their creation in July 2020, the charity has helped 59 families and distributed over 2,500 items to those in need.

We wanted to offer our support to this wonderful initiative, beginning with the creation of marketing material, including designing a roller banner and offering our video recording equipment to film a promotional video.

After working alongside the amazing people at Little Stars Baby Bank and seeing first-hand how important their work is around the community, we have committed to our continued support of the charity through donations and colleague volunteering.

“We are thrilled and delighted to have the continued support of Aico. The past 18 months have been so difficult for everyone.”

“During this time we managed to remain open to support seriously ill local children and their families during the pandemic despite our fundraising suffering as we were unable to hold events and our shops doors were closed.  More than 85% of our running costs come from our local community, to know that we have incredible companies like Aico supporting us is fantastic.”

Lynsey Kilvert, Fundraising Team Leader, Hope House Tŷ Gobaith

“It really has been all go – more amazing news with a donation from Aico – beyond words and took us by complete surprise. These guys rock!”

“We cannot thank them enough, they have been an absolute gem with support for Little Stars from their Marketing Team helping us with designs to the promotional video and now a donation. Huge shout out to Lily Ellis, Jane Pritchard, Matt Powell and of course Neal Hooper.”

Leanne Simcoe, Founder of Little Stars Baby Bank

“On behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Aico for everything that they have done to achieve their amazing fundraising total of £20,100 in 2019.”

“It has been a pleasure being involved and supporting the team in their various activities with everyone working together to achieve this fantastic total.”

Kate Thomas, Regional Fundraising Manager, Macmillan
