AB Building & Electrical Ltd (ABBE) is a specialist electrical compliance contractor with a long‑established track record in the social housing sector and over 15 years’ experience installing Aico fire and carbon monoxide detection systems. Fire safety forms a core part of our business, and Aico products have been a consistent and trusted solution within our electrical compliance and life safety programmes.
Our Aico installations and associated electrical works have been independently inspected and vetted by recognised third‑party auditors and certification bodies including Morgan Lambert, ICON, NICEIC, and CORGI. These audits provide our clients and partners with assurance that our work is delivered in accordance with current regulations, manufacturer guidance, and accepted industry best practice.
ABBE annually accesses in excess of 20,000 occupied social housing properties to undertake electrical safety inspections, remedial works, and compliance activity. Within this environment, we work closely with our clients to ensure each property complies with their specific fire detection and alarm policies, including appropriate device selection, positioning, installation, testing, labelling, and certification of Aico systems.
We operate a bespoke compliance and asset management system which supports full traceability of installed life safety equipment. This system currently holds an asset register of approximately 100,000 Aico fire and life safety devices across our client portfolios. The platform enables accurate reporting, ongoing compliance management, and informed future investment planning, ensuring fire detection systems remain compliant throughout their lifecycle.
Training and competence are fundamental to our approach. Our operational workforce has attended Aico training sessions on multiple occasions, and we are fully committed to continued engagement with Aico’s training and technical updates. This ensures evolving guidance, product developments, and best practice are consistently embedded across our installation teams and management structure.
ABBE is committed to operating to the highest professional and technical standards. All senior operational managers hold electrical design and verification qualifications and are members of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
