Since the United Kingdom (UK) referendum result on membership of the European Union (EU) in June 2016, Aico Ltd has been working to assess and mitigate the likely impacts of “Brexit” on its customers and suppliers under a variety of potential outcomes. This update is provided to give information to our customers and supply chain partners on our preparations.
Brexit focus areas
In our initial risk assessment, we have identified a number of key areas of focus for a potential Brexit impact, including
- Customer service and supply chain
- Financial performance, including the potential impact of tariffs
- Employees and mobility
- Regulatory frameworks and compliance
Customer service and supply chain
Aico Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary of E.i. Electronics. We are unique in the industry because all of our products are supplied directly by E.I. Electronics.
We have substantial stockholding at our Distribution Centre based in Oswestry, UK. Our stocks are replenished daily and directly shipped on dedicated vehicles from the EU to the UK.
Aico Ltd do not foresee any issues relating to the receipt and supply of goods in a post “Brexit”
E.I. Electronics is based in the E.U and purchases it raw materials in US dollars. Therefore, any impact on the Euro and exchange rate fluctuations will be minimal. Aico Ltd are in a very strong financial position and any potential negative impact on our financial performance will be mitigated by this strength
Employees and mobility
Aico Ltd has a very high staff retention rate and employs directly from the local community. We do not rely on a migrant work force and as a result do not see any negative impacts of any restrictions implemented on the movement of people
Regulatory frameworks and compliance
Aico Ltd is a BS EN ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 accredited company and as such operates strict quality, environmental and health and safety procedures relating to the stockholding and supply of electrical equipment. The philosophy of quality is extended to all our operations.
The above standards are internationally recognised and Aico ltd will continue with the accreditations, whatever impact “Brexit” may have
Aico Ltd.’s legal compliance is independently evaluated bi-annually and any changes resulting from “Brexit” will be implemented as necessary
Aico Ltd, is a wholly owned subsidiary of E.i. electronics, Aico Ltd.’s innovation and product development are led by the market we service. All our R&D teams are based in Shannon, Republic of Ireland and therefore we do not foresee any negative impact of “Brexit” on our product innovation.
As the negotiating deadline for exiting the EU looms closer, we recognise that a number of parties will understandably be concerned; these include customers and suppliers.
We understand that many customers have concerns. We will continue to review our position as more information is provided by the Government.
We remain vigilant and prepared for a number of Brexit scenarios, but based on the work already carried out we feel optimistic and ready for whichever of the potential Brexit scenarios may be realised.
