Rosebery Housing Association has upgraded its fire detection system from Grade D LD3 to LD2 across its properties using Aico Ei160 Series alarms.  On completion of the installation, Rosebery held a community event which Aico supported, providing information to residents about fire safety.

An Aico customer for over two decades, Rosebery Housing Association owns more than 2,200 affordable homes across Surrey and West Sussex, including three-quarters of all affordable housing in Epsom and Ewell.  It took the decision to upgrade its housing stock to LD2 to provide additional early warning for higher risk areas such as kitchens.  The upgrade was tied in to all major programmed and void works and has seen Aico Ei166e Optical Alarms fitted in all escape routes and living rooms and Ei164e Heat Alarms in kitchens.

An important part of the upgrade was communicating with tenants and a community event held in June at the Watersedge estate proved the ideal opportunity.  Aico Regional Specification Manager David Cunningham participated in the day, bringing an Aico Mobile Training & Demonstration Unit to site, where he helped tenants to understand the importance of weekly alarm testing.  David provided Rosebery staff with training on the day, including a basic overview on alarm sensor types and system operation.  Also in attendance at the event was Rosebery repairs operatives and grounds contractors, who talked to residents about their respective roles, Surrey Fire & Rescue and Surrey Police.  There was a great turn out by the community and invaluable feedback was given.

“Aico has provided support and training to all frontline staff at Rosebery Housing Association” states Nathan Hillman, Compliance Manager at Rosebery.  “Our frontline staff range from Customer Experience, Neighbourhood Officers, Estate Services, Repair Team Administrators, Asset Management and our Repairs Operatives.  The feedback from the training sessions have been positive from all teams and we have seen the knowledge gained used on general customer experience queries, neighbourhood tenancy audits and estate service inspection.”

Nathan considers Aico to be at the forefront of the industry, going far beyond just product and sales support: “Being a member of the ethics group #e5, who’s aim is to raise awareness of ethical principles within the electrical industry, I personally find that the ongoing support that David Cunningham and the teams at Aico provide goes beyond that of most manufactures and I admire the passion they have for raising fire safety awareness in the industry.”
