North Warwickshire Borough Council has taken a proactive step to support its technical team and further improve the conditions of its housing stock by implementing Aico’s cutting-edge HomeLINK Case Management (HCM) system. This system aims to help the council address issues of damp and mould across its housing stock.

North Warwickshire Borough Council is taking a crucial step in tackling damp and mould by implementing Aico’s innovative HomeLINK Case Management (HCM) system. This cutting-edge system, introduced by Aico, the European market leader in home life safety, in November 2024, is designed to streamline the reporting, tracking, and resolution of damp and mould cases. By seamlessly integrating with the HomeLINK Portal, HCM combats common challenges faced by landlords, including identifying and managing cases, analysing data, recording actions and interventions, and fostering clear communication with residents. Its implementation will allow the Council to respond quickly and achieve better outcomes for tenants.

Building on a long-standing partnership, the Council previously introduced Aico’s environmental sensors. These sensors continuously monitor the indoor environmental conditions of each home. The data collected is communicated to the Ei1000G Gateway via radio frequency, which then translates into actionable insights for both landlords and residents, helping them create safer homes.

By combining this real-time data with smart home technology, the Council can now proactively identify environmental conditions that contribute to damp and mould before they become serious health risks. This data-led approach not only helps prioritise high-risk cases but also supports more efficient repairs and robust long-term prevention.

Angela Coates, Director for North Warwickshire Borough Council, said, “The case management approach will not only support our technical team but will also enable us to work closely with tenants to understand the conditions prevalent in their homes and to take action to prevent hazards occurring. This is because both the technical team and tenants have the information from the Aico software to consider and discuss. Tenants can report issues directly and track progress through to resolution. It goes to the heart of our intention to build open and productive relationships with our tenants to resolve problems.

We started using the case management system in early 2025. Tenants are helping us understand how it can help prevent conditions that cause mould growth. The implementation of the case management approach anticipates the forthcoming of Awaab’s Law and improves our systems of work to meet the regulatory requirements.

We have worked productively with Aico over many years, and we welcome the opportunity to work with them on this positive and important initiative. It puts us at the forefront of using smart technology to get good data to create healthier, safer homes for all”.
