At Aico, collaboration, innovation and education are key to everything we do, particularly when it comes to resident safety. This summer, our long-standing partnership with Phoenix Community Housing continued to grow through a series of Resident Engagement events, designed to build trust, share knowledge, and support safer homes across the community in South London.

A Longstanding Partnership

Aico has worked alongside Phoenix Community Housing for many years, developing a strong and trusted relationship. Over the past three and a half years, we’ve collaborated on numerous Resident Engagement Days, supporting Phoenix teams across areas including fire and carbon monoxide safety and compliance, IoT integration and community engagement.

Our partnership extends to innovative projects such as Melfield Gardens and Farmstead Road – both Passivhaus developments that set a new standard for sustainable living. These efforts even caught the attention of BBC News, who featured interviews with residents and Phoenix’s Chief Executive, Denise Fowler, highlighting the positive impact of our work together.

Engaging the Community

The Resident Engagement project ran throughout the summer, featuring seven ‘Chat & Chips’ events from June to September. These informal evening gatherings gave residents the chance to meet Phoenix staff face-to-face, ask questions, and share feedback – all while enjoying a complimentary fish and chip supper, served from Phoenix’s own fish & chip van.

In addition to ‘Chat & Chips’, Phoenix hosted a series of Summer Fun Days, bringing families and neighbours together for a day filled with activities and entertainment. From puppet shows and balloon making to face painting, trampolines, and kettle drum performances, these events combined fun with learning.

Aico supported these sessions with our Mobile Unit, offering interactive demonstrations on relevant Aico products installed the residents’ homes. Residents were shown how to recognise the different alarm types in their homes, how to test their alarms and to understand what each sound means, empowering them to take an active role in their own safety.

Gian Brown, Resident Involvement & Community Links Manager at Phoenix Community Housing, commented “Phoenix Community Housing delivered a summer programme of seven Chat & Chips events from June to September 2025. These events took place on green spaces across the Phoenix area, giving residents the chance to meet staff face-to-face, share their thoughts, and raise any issues. As a thank you, residents received a fish and chip supper for their household. We were delighted to have Aico join us at these events as one of our valued partner organisations.”

“It’s a pleasure to work with such a forward-thinking social housing provider as Phoenix Community Housing. Their commitment to engaging with residents and prioritising safety is inspiring. Seeing families, older residents, and individuals come together to learn, connect, and enjoy themselves truly shows the strength of this community,” commented Rachel Wright, Relationship Manager at Aico.

A Shared Commitment to Resident Safety

At the heart of this partnership is a shared goal – ensuring that residents live in homes that are not only safe, but where they also feel informed and supported. Initiatives like these strengthen relationships between landlords, partners, and residents, helping to create communities built on trust, engagement, and wellbeing.

Aico is proud to stand alongside Phoenix Community Housing in our ongoing commitment to resident safety and community connection.
