As part of the multiple challenges Aico has signed up for in 2019, to raise money for their Charity of the Year, Macmillan Cancer Support, a team of ten took part in the Jurassic Coast Mighty Hike, which is a 26-mile hike from Weymouth to Wareham, along the challenging but magnificent Jurassic Coast.

The Aico team crossed the finish line in just under twelve hours having started the grueling challenge at 8.30am and finishing at 8.00pm.

A long the way the team faced all sorts of weather conditions and obstacles. Lee Duffy, Operations Manager for Aico, explains that for him “This is far and away the toughest thing I have ever done. The terrain combined with the weather and the sheer distance made this a challenge. The teamwork displayed throughout was incredible.

Kate Thomas, Macmillan Fundraising Manager for Shropshire commented “It is a pleasure to be supporting Aico with their fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support this year, all of their fundraising activities are completed with such enthusiasm and passion and the Jurassic Coast Mighty Hike was no exception!  A huge thank you from Macmillan to The Jurassic Coast Team who have taken on this huge challenge, all the preparation and training, and a big thank you to all their supporters who have kindly supported them and donated to this journey.  Many congratulations to Lee, Alex, Ian, Indre, Tina, Steve, Tony, Paul, Allen and Owen for smashing that 26 miles from Weymouth to Wareham!”

The Aico team raised an impressive total of £6,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Aico’s next challenge will be the Macmillan Coracle World Championships in Shrewsbury on Friday 13th September followed by Oswestry 10k in October.
