Sunday 16th October saw 600 runners from across the county participate in the Oswestry 10k Run, organised by Adrenaline Sporting Events in support of a local charity, Hope House.

Now in its third year, the race is a much-anticipated event in the town’s calendar, with the local residents adorning the streets to spur on the competitors and create a lively buzz of community spirit. The Oswestry 10k offers a circular route, commencing in the town centre before moving into the scenic countryside and finishing on Church Street.

Oswestry-based Aico, regularly supports local organisations and events through their corporate social responsibility initiative, Aico in the Community. As part of Aico’s on-going partnership with Adrenaline Sporting Events, they were delighted to be the headline sponsor of the Oswestry 10k, for the second consecutive year, with 10 of their colleagues also participating.

Alison Ackerman, Finance Clerk at Aico comments “As a first-time runner of the Oswestry 10k, there were a few nerves as I joined the start line amongst my colleagues and the other participants. But thanks to the cheers, claps and calls of support from the local community, the nerves were quickly replaced by the runner’s high – without them keeping us going, it would have been much more of a struggle! It was a great event in support of a fantastic cause, and I will definitely be signing up for 2023.

Students from Whittington School were awaiting the runners at the finish line to present the finishers’ medals, as well as others from the local community volunteering to marshal the event and manage the refuelling stations – ensuring the runners were happy, healthy and hydrated.

Alan Lewis, Founder of Adrenaline Sporting Events comments, “I’m thrilled with how the event went, the atmosphere in Oswestry was incredible, and I’m really grateful to everyone who supported the event. The Aico sponsored medals looked amazing, and the children from Whittington School presented them to the runners, which made it extra special. We can’t wait for the Shropshire Santa Run on the 4th of December.
