Aico Colleagues volunteer for Little Stars Baby Bank

Hi, I am Jane and I work as a Community Liaison within the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team here at Aico. Recently I have been helping out, volunteering my time with some of my colleagues, sorting donations which have come in for the Little Stars Baby Bank charity.

Little Stars Baby Bank was founded by Leanne Simcoe in 2020. After wanting to donate her baby items to other families in need, Leanne realised that there was no such provision already set up in Shropshire. She swiftly got to work, creating her own charity with a mission to help parents in need of essential baby items through generous donations from across the community.

When Aico became aware of the great work Leanne was doing, we wanted to get involved and looked at various ways in which we could support her. Our colleagues have helped with marketing materials, such as designing roller banners and offering our recording equipment to film a promotional video to help raise awareness of her charity.

We were really pleased when Little Stars Baby Bank was chosen to become Aico’s Charity of the Year for 2022 and that we were able to support more long term. Leanne now uses space at our headquarters in Oswestry to store all her donations that come in from local supermarkets and the general public.  Aico colleagues are always on hand to help sort donations into categories and age ranges, ready for when referrals come in.

Over the past year, I have enjoyed having the opportunity to work alongside Leanne. My colleagues and I are also really excited to be part of the future plan to grow the charity further and extend its service to children who are in need of school uniforms, winter clothing and footwear.

It is really rewarding to be involved and know that by us giving our time, we are helping to make a difference and support a great charity that is doing so much good for those in need within our community.
